A Small Tag Sale Haul

A couple of weeks ago my husband offered to take me  to some tag sales!

My new rules for tag sales:

• practical finds
• something I can use to organize with
• can I use it to scrapbook
• will it be useful
• do I room to store it

This time I picked up:

• a picture holder( practical)
• an art or utensil caddy
• a galvanized planter ( I'm using it to hold some magazines on a chest in our living room)
• some ric-rac ( for sewing or scrapping)

I think all of this came to about $8!

Practical, useful and frugal tag sale fun!

Thrift Shop Haul Jan 2015

Yesterday, I stopped by Parson's Closet, a local thrift store, to see if they had any winter boots or gloves for the kiddos. Unfortunately, they didn't have any boots and only one pair of gloves but they did have their " fill a bag of clothing for $7" sale.

I took advantage of it because in the retail stores I would probably couldn't even get one item of clothing for $7.

I ended up getting a variety of clothes for the kids.

#1- purple fleece headband ( for my 13 yr old daughter)

#2- purple ruffled open sweater( for my 13 yr old daughter)

#3- 3 pair of pants (3T) 2 jeans 1 khaki Ralph Lauren

#4- purple shirt with big puffy rose (sz.6)

#5- pink floral pj set (sz.6)

#6- polar bear/ penguin pj shirt (3T)

#7- argyl sweater blue and grey (4T)

#8- pair of gloves ( not the best but good for now)

#9- Chaps sweater vest (XL foy my hubby)

Puffy purple rose!

My 13 yr. old has always liked purple!

These are the one pair of gloves I found. They aren't the greatest but a temporary until I find something better.

For an extra $1 I got this game for homeschooling for my 1st grader. It was never used, the cards are still in the wrapping! She can't wait to play it and has been bugging me since I brought it home.

So that is my 1st thrift haul of the year, very practical and frugal, an $8 well spent!

 

Dollar Tree and TJ Maxx Haul Jan 2015

I have been watching some videos on youtube from a couple of women's channels:" Do It On A Dime" and "Sweet and Simple" are two of my favorite. I thought I would start sharing my hauls as well.

Last night, at the Dollar Tree I picked up 3 things, I always go there with an amount I want to spend because it can be very easy to overspend there.

I try to keep need and practicality above wants and the cute factor.This time  I set the limit of $5 and I only spent $3. I had more than that in my carraige but I weeded out some things I felt could wait. So here it is:

Dollar Tree:

#1- elf make up brush

#2- diamond shaped spray bottle (for wetting our hair in the morning)

#3-Daily Defense Conditioner with Argon Oil ( smells great and makes our hair more managable)

TJ Maxx:

#1- 2 aqua  handtowels ( $4.99 ea.)

#2- toddler hat ($5.50 on sale)

#3- 2 note pads ( $2.99 magnetic closure) ( desktop pad in a box $3.99)

#4- elf on a shelf slippers $3.50 (2T-3T)

These lil' slippers have grips on the bottom and stay on our lil' darlings feet. This is a plus because he has prolapsed flat feet and I wasn't sure if he would be able to balance well in them but they are great!

This hat is fleeced lined and it fits him nice and snug!
