Yesterday, we attended our son's last college soccer game. His team did not win but they played hard and sportsman-like until the end.
My son has made me so proud because he has persevered in education and in his athletics. he will graduate from Our Lady of the Elms College, May 2015!
We have truly enjoyed watching our son play over the years. Time passes by so fast, it seems like he was the one we were holding in our arms not to long ago.
I see many champion-like qualities in this young man not only on the field but off the field as well. He attends church, he connects with his family when he can, he works a job and pays his own way, he sets goals and tries to reach them.
As I ponder on the 21 years of our son's life I hope he knows how much he means to all of us. He has won so many games over the years but even more he has won so many hearts and I know he has always had mine from the day I knew he was a heartbeat under mine. A champion he is because he is a child of God.
So, to my champion: It's not wether if you win or lose but how you play the game and guess what kid, you played some d*** good soccer !
Go big brother, Go!!! Your my champion, too!
